I grew up on a family farm in Oblong, Illinois, a small rural community in Southeastern Illinois. As far back as I can remember, I always loved to draw and create things. When I was in high school, I visited Indiana State for the Summer Honors program. This 2 week program introduced me to graphic design and set me on my creative path. A special thanks to my high school art teacher for recommending me for the program.
Since computers back then aren't what they are now, this was my first real introduction to creating art on a computer.
The next year I enrolled in the Art/Graphic Design program
at Indiana State and a little over 4 years later, I graduated
with a BFA.
After college, my first job was with Miller & White Advertising in Terre Haute, Indiana. I worked a lot of hours for not a lot of money, but I got my feet wet and I learned a lot in my first 3 years as a designer. I definitely learned more in the first 6 months of working than I did in 4 years of college. It's amazing to think how green I actually was back then.
Over the past 20 years, I've had the opportunity to work for a lot of great companies and in a number of different roles.
In addition to my time working in a creative role, I also spent 6 years as an adjunct faculty member at the Art Institute of Indianapolis where I taught design layout and typography.
I currently spend my days as an Associate Creative Director for Avant Healthcare.
I am a husband, a father and a christian. My family and my faith are very important to me.
I am fortunate to work in a field that allows me the opportunity to be creative.
Away from my work, I enjoy spending time with my amazing wife and my 2 children. I enjoy building things so you're likely to find me on the weekends in the garage building furniture or around the house doing home improvements. I'm a huge music fan and love live concerts. I've been a Cubs fan since I was a kid (#GoCubsGo) and even though the Colts have struggled lately I still wear my blue with pride.
